F1 – Settling In

What a fantastic start to the year we have had in F1! The children have settled into school life so well and have already begun to make great progress in their areas of learning. All of the children are able to select their own resources and are already very independent learners!

Our Topic this half term has been ‘All about me’ and the children have really enjoyed talking about their families, their likes and dislikes and also about what makes them special. We have drawn self portraits and also had lots of fun playing Guess Who with our own baby photographs.

We have read lots of stories to encourage the children to join in with repeated phrases and also loved reading about Elmer the Elephant who is a very special patchwork elephant. We have learnt about how God created our wonderful world and painted pictures of all the things God created.

In maths we have learnt many new number rhymes and songs and have loved joining in with the words and actions. We have been busy learning the names of shapes and also counting objects.

In our Outdoor learning we have loved playing builders, singing on our stage and learning to ride the bikes and scooters. Children have enjoyed baking in our mud kitchen and also creating their own ramps for cars and obstacle courses.

We love Snack Time in Nursery, we sit and socialise with our friends during snack and we have loved trying different fruits and especially love Toasty Friday!

Thank you for all of your support this 1st half term, we hope you found the EYFS Curriculum meeting useful and hope that you are enjoying looking through your child’s observations on Tapestry- please feel free to add your own observations/photographs, it is really lovely to see the children’s development at home as well as at school.
