Class 6W CAFOD Harvest Fast Day – ‘The Big Silly Share’ – 10th October

This Harvest Fast Day asks us to help make a space at your table for families around the world who don’t have enough to eat.

“It is not God’s will for some to have everything and others to have nothing” (Oscar Romero).

• Half of the people in the world who go hungry are actually farmers.
• Every day tasty fruit and vegetables are thrown away and never make it to our shops because they aren’t the right shape, size or colour.
• We throw away more food from our homes than we do packaging.

CAFOD say our food system is silly but this harvest Class 6W are serious about doing something  and want to work in partnership with the SVP of St. Mary’s Parish to change it.

Class 6W ask that on Friday 10th October, the children wear something silly to school and bring a non perishable food donation into school as contribution to the parish’s SVP Food Bank collection. Contributions to CAFOD will also be most welcome.

Generous God, thank you for our food.

May we appreciate what we have and never take it for granted.

We pray for those in Denton and around the world, who do not have enough

to provide for their family.

We pray for a good harvest, for generosity and love,

as we seek a better, fairer world.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
