This week as a wonderful start to the Advent journey, we welcomed Briege Sivills, from CAFOD, Briege spoke to the children in an assembly about CAFOD’s ‘World Gifts’, linked to the rights of every child.
Briege reminded us that the excitement of giving and receiving gifts is all part of the celebration of God’s greatest gift to us, the birth of Jesus, His Son. This Advent assembly, looked at how some of the world’s poorest communities have been given gifts by the money raised, which have made an enormous difference to their lives. These gifts may include, seeds to grow crops, livestock (cows and goats), mosquito nets and school places to provide education.
During this time of preparation, we are reminded that we can help the people less fortunate than us and giving a gift can be as enjoyable as receiving a gift.
