At St. Mary’s we offer a wide variety of clubs and activities at various times of the day for all age groups.
Our After School Clubs are run by school staff and external specialist coaches. Some of our clubs are free for others there is a nominal charge.
Many thanks to Mrs Evans, who co-ordinates our After School Club programme.
We enter many competitions and the children enjoy representing the school with their friends and reporting on their successes in whole school assemblies.
As a school, we work in partnership with our local community. Our links with the community enable the children to engage positively with their local area as well as enhancing our curriculum provision.
1. The Parish of St Mary and St John Fisher
Father Peter Kinsella, our Parish Priest, is a member of our governing body. All children regularly attend Mass at St. Mary’s, as part of the parish community, and lead the liturgy. The Sacramental programme for our Y3 children is well supported by our parents and co-ordinated by Sister Delores.
The children in Years 5 and 6 take part in the annual Denton Community Christmas Concert along with children from neighbouring Catholic schools to lead the start of the parish’s Christmas celebrations. We also join with the parish to mark the events of Holy Week in our annual Easter Reflection and welcome to parish to join us in our annual Awards assembly which is held in St Mary’s Church at the end of each academic year.
2. ‘Local Experts’
We actively seek opportunities to invite ‘local experts’ into school to speak to the children to further enhance our curriculum provision. Recent examples of such links involve Andrew Gwynne MP who spoke to our Y3 class of his passion for local history and Olympian Kelly Massey.
3. Local Business Links
We have established good links with a number of local businesses who are keen to support our extra curricular provision and fundraising activities:
