Key Stage UKS2

Welcome to Year 6’s class page.

Throughout this term, we will be working hard to improve our narrative and non-fiction writing using the story ‘The House of Coloured Windows’ and a text on ‘Wizardology’ which will also develop the children’s grammar skills. Our maths work will begin with place value- including decimals and fractions, shape and move onto many new, but interesting concepts. In our R.E. lessons, we will be learning about the Kingdom of God and making links to parables told by Jesus. This will also be the theme for our class collective worship.

In Humanities, the children will look at a variety of sources that show political, social and cultural aspects of Ancient Greek life. They will consider the achievements and legacy of the Ancient Greeks, and how they influenced the world in which we live today to answer the question: why should we thank the Ancient Greeks? In science, we will be linking the Greek Olympics with studying ‘Healthy Bodies’ which focuses on life processes that are internal to the body, such as the circulatory system and the impact of lifestyle on bodies, particularly of humans. P.E. this term will be gymnastics as well as our regular Thursday swimming lessons.

Please ensure P.E. kits are in school throughout the week and remember swimming kits on a Thursday.
