Year 4 enjoyed their trip out to the Tree Top nets in Heaton Park on Wednesday. They bounced and climbed 'til they dropped and then some. They were an absolute pleasure to take for a day out and were a real credit to the school and parents - I was so proud of them. What a lovely end of...
The children enjoyed a wonderful assembly by Ash Randall, who is a freestyle footballer and multiple world record holder. He showed the children amazing tricks and taught them the importance of resilience and striving to achieve their goals.
The Year 5/6 swimming team performed brilliantly in the Tameside Schools swimming heats , which were held at Tameside Wellness Centre. The team was a mixture of boys and girls and between them they swam the butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and front crawl. The races culminated in an eight-person relay. All the children contributed brilliantly and eventually finished 3rd narrowly missing...
Wow, what an amazing EYFS sports day we had this morning. Each child competed in a running race, a javelin throw, a bean bag pick up race and an egg and spoon race. After practising hard in PE lessons, the smiles and enthusiasm today were fantastic to see! We hope that you all enjoyed it too.
The Year 5 children have spent two days doing bikeability both in school and out on the roads of Denton. They have all really enjoyed the experience and their behaviour and manners were commented on positively by all the instructors.
The Year 5/6 team played valiantly but were ultimately knocked out of the Tameside Schools Cup against Dane Bank Primary School. After a very tight first half, St Mary's were unlucky to be 2-1 down. They continued to play well in the second half but Dane Bank were much more clinical. Credit must go to the team for keeping...
A huge well done to the mixed year 5/6 football team, who overcame Corrie Primary School in the first round of the Tameside Schools Football Tournament. Despite going behind early on, they came back strongly, eventually winning 4-2. All the players showed great team spirit and they should be proud of their efforts against a good team.
The children and staff in school today took part in the TCSSA virtual netball competition by throwing socks into a basket from 2 metres away. The children showed great aim and technique to contribute towards a score of 216 in total. I'm not sure how much of a help the staff were though!
This week would have been the annual TCSSA Netball competition which we as a school normally do exceptionally well in. However, due to the current situation it obviously can not take place. Therefore, in its place TCSSA have put together the Virtual Netball Competition. The rules of the competition are below. Please send in your results alongside pictures or...

St. Mary's entered two teams into the Tameside Schools Basketball finals on Wednesday after they both qualified from their heats last. Both teams played extremely well. They ended playing each other in the 3rd place play-off with the A narrowly winning 1-0. Well done to all involved.
On Monday, Year 6 enjoyed a great day out at firstly Safe Squad and then onto Sky High Adventure. Safe Squad was a very informative morning about things like, Internet Safety, dealing with peer pressure, first aid including CPR and fire safety, particularly spotting hazards around the home.
In the afternoon, we were really lucky to be going onto...
